Contrary to popular belief, not all of our holidays have been “luxurious”; indeed, we have been very happy getting-by on a tight budget.
In the summer holiday of 1990, Sue and I went to work in the Catskill mountains of upstate New York, and then went travelling around the US with Heather and Jon for a month. It was our first proper travelling together, and gave Sue the travel bug.
We loved going sailing in Greece and Turkey with Bruce and Andrea, in the days BC (“Before Children”).
Despite still suffering from many hours of jet lag, we weren't going to miss out on the opportunity to climb the Harbour Bridge, whilst in Sydney.
During our motor-home tour of New Zealand, we stumbled across a town called Wanaka on the South Island. I couldn't believe the tourist map, which seemed to indicate that it was possible to hire a two-seater, former military, jet plane and fly it over the town and lake.
